UKRAINE, POLTAVA OBLAST, Jul. 7 — On Jun. 30, the crew of Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter was killed while repelling Russian attack near Starytskivka village in the Poltava oblast, said the Brody City Council and the Nekhvoroshchia community.

Four Ukrainian soldiers died during the mission, including Captain Yurii Voron, the commander of the crew, Major Valentyn Mukshynov, a pilot, Senior Lieutenant Bohdan Khmil, a flight engineer, and Junior Major Mykhail Deriaha, an air gunner.

Voron and Khmil were graduates of Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National Air Force University.

On July 7, a farewell procession for four fallen soldiers took place in Brody, Lviv Oblast. The funeral cortege passed through the city center. Then, the funeral procession for Yurii Voron began, as he was born in Brody. Yurii is survived by his parents, wife, and son, reported the local media Suspilne Lviv.

A cortege took the bodies of three other crew members to their home communities for further farewell ceremonies. Mukshynov was born in Kyiv, Khmil in Vasylkiv, Kyiv oblast, and Deriaha in Andriivka village, Poltava oblast.
