RUSSIA, VORONEZH OBLAST, Oct. 15 — At night, the Ukrainian Navy attacked Borisoglebsk military airfield in the Voronezh oblast of Russia, hitting six Su-34M fighter bombers, the press service of the Ukrainian Navy said.
Ukrainian forces used Neptun cruise missiles to attack the airfield. The attack also damaged equipment for aviation operations, the Ukrainian Navy added.
The Su-34M aircraft is one of the key tools of the Russian air force for launching guided bombs against Ukrainian positions and frontline settlements in Ukraine. They can carry several guided and highly explosive bombs as well as missiles of various types.
According to the Ukrainian Navy, multiple explosions and a fire have been reported at the Borisoglebsk airfield.
Repeated explosions were also heard at the 783rd Aviation Training Center. Militarnyi, a Ukrainian defense media outlet, said that Russians use Yak-130 combat-training aircraft at this center — and launch attacks against Ukraine from the airfield.
