Sep. 8 — The European Commission sent to Ukraine €1,24 billion as part of the defense section of the Ukraine Support Loan, the European Commission said.
The Ukraine Support Loan is a large-scale financial instrument of the European Union, launched in 2026, to support Ukraine with up to €90 billion for 2026–2027.
This money will be used to purchase drones, interceptor drones, ammunition for drones, and missiles made by Ukrainian defense companies.
By the end of this year, an additional €28.1 billion will remain available to Ukraine under the Ukraine Support Loan, of which €15.4 billion is intended for the defense industry and €12.7 billion for the state budget support.
An additional €4.4 billion for Ukraine’s budget remains available under the Ukraine Facility, the European Union’s financial support program for Ukraine.
The situation with Ukraine’s air defense at the end of 2026 is characterized by a severe shortage of weapons and equipment, while the Russians have changed their attack tactics ahead of the winter season, Yurii Ihnat, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Air Force, said during the national telethon on Aug. 24.
