Jun. 2 — Ukraine and Lithuania have signed a letter of intent to launch a joint grant program called Brave Lithuania, aimed at supporting defense technology development, reported Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense.
The signing took place on Jun. 1-2 during the NATO-Ukraine Defence Innovators Forum in Vilnius, co-organized by NATO, Lithuania’s Ministry of National Defence, and the Ukrainian state-owned defense tech cluster Brave1.
The program will focus on funding Ukrainian and Lithuanian innovations in key defence technology areas, including unmanned systems, electronic warfare, artificial intelligence, communications systems, and other dual-use and military technologies.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the main goal of Brave Lithuania is to accelerate the development and deployment of innovative solutions for Ukraine’s Armed Forces, while also strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ defence ecosystems.
The initiative will also include joint events for developers to help identify new technological solutions and build partnerships between Ukrainian and Lithuanian innovators. On the Ukrainian side, the program will be implemented by the Brave1 defence tech cluster.
Officials added that similar initiatives are also being developed with other partners, including a planned Brave Germany program to support defence startups and innovation, and the EU4UA Defence Tech grant initiative with the European Union that focused on components for drones.
