UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep. 16 — The Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) forces of the Ukrainian army’s monitoring shows that Russia used dangerous chemicals to attack Ukrainian troops almost 14,000 times, Andrii Popchuk, the head of communications of the 704th separate CBRN brigade told Armiia TV.
According to Popchuk, the unit conducts radiation, chemical, and biological reconnaissance, collects and analyzes samples, and detects chemical agents.
According to the Ministry of Defence, Russian forces used such chemical attacks mostly episodic in 2023 and their intensity increased sharply at the beginning of 2024. As of the first half of 2026, their overall use of chemical munitions remains consistently high across the entire frontline.
That Ministry added that Ukraine called on partners to strengthen support in CBRN security.
