UKRAINE, May 20 — Since the beginning of Russian full-scale invasion in Ukraine in 2022, Russian forces destroyed 46 railway cars, reported the press service of Ukrainian Railways.
“We can add another 200 cars and an entire Intercity train to that number, which are waiting to be fixed because of shelling, drone attacks, and crashes,” said Ukrainian Railways.
Also, they noted about 1,050 cars that are awaiting inspection and removal from service because of their age and poor condition.
The press service said that Ukrainian Railways is preparing for the summer, “which will be even harder than the previous one.” They said that demand for the train transportation is rising, while the number of railway cars is falling.
On May 14, Russian forces attacked a switcher locomotive in the Kharkiv oblast.
