UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Jul. 28 — Russian forces attacked the city of Balakliia in the Izium district of the Kharkiv oblast with a Banderol missile, killing one and injuring eight people, the Kharkiv regional Prosecutor’s Office said on Jul. 27.

Banderol is a small Russian-made missile with a flight range of up to 500 kilometers (about 311 miles).

The Russian attack killed a 58-year-old man, who was in a parked car at the time, prosecutors said.

Russians damaged houses, apartment buildings, a medical institution, cars, and a restaurant during the attack on Balakliia.

Balakliia is a city in the Izium district, more than 55 miles (90 kilometers) from Kharkiv. The Russian army occupied the city in March 2022, and Ukrainian troops liberated it during the Kharkiv counteroffensive in September 2022.
