On Oct. 4, Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska collected the Knight of Freedom award on behalf of the Ukrainian people at the Warsaw Security Forum in Poland.

According to PolskieRadio, Zelenska paid tribute to the people of Ukraine, picking up the award. She also thanked Poland and its citizens “for giving Ukraine spiritual armor every day.”

“The Knight of Freedom Award is presented by the Casimir Pulaski Foundation to outstanding international figures, promoting the values for which “the father of American cavalierly” General Pulaski fought: freedom, justice, and democracy. Since 2006, the prize has been given out in the form of a handmade replica of General Pulaski’s sabre,” explains the official Foundation`s website.

This year, the Casimir Pulaski Foundation decided to give the Knight of Freedom Award to the people of Ukraine “for their brave and defiant resistance to the Russian invasion”, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

“Had the honor to receive the Knight of Freedom Award, awarded to the people of Ukraine at Warsaw Forum. For all our people who protect, volunteer, rescue, and support. For everyone who brings our victory closer. Grateful to Poland for this award. Freedom will win for sure!” commented Zelenska on Twitter.

Earlier Olena Zelenska presented the book project Better Time Stories for Ukrainian children who were forced to leave for European countries because of the war.
