Mar 21 — The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (IADC) announced a call for proposals for clearing up mines and other remnants of war in Ukraine’s regions close to the frontline, focusing on Kharkiv Oblast as a priority, reports Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy.

During three years of the full-scale war, 55 out of 56 communities in Kharkiv Oblast have been affected by war. After most of the region was freed from Russian occupation in 2022, deminers discovered that nearly 1,2 million hectares of this land could be mined.

Projects that will respond to the call have to aim at non-technical and/or technical surveys of the territory and information work related to the mine threats.

“That’s the first time one of our countries’ partners has dedicated money to clearing up our lands and engaging Ukrainian deminers,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko, Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
