The Russian army was conducting an offensive in the Kupyansk direction. The geolocation footage shows that the adversary advanced in the area of Orlyanka and Mykolaivka East of Kupyansk.
This is stated in a new report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). The main goal of the Russian army is to capture the rest of Luhansk region and move westward into the eastern part of Kharkiv and northern part of Donetsk regions.
According to the Institute for the Study of War, which cites a spokesman for the Western Group of Russian troops, Sergei Zybinsky, units of the 6th Combined Arms Army (Western Military District) have taken control of several Ukrainian positions and observation posts near Vilshana (15 km northeast of Kupyansk).
Russian troops are said to have seized positions and occupied a line from Synkivka (8 km northeast of Kupiansk) to Petropavlivka (7 km east of Kupiansk), where positional fighting continues.
ISW reports that Russian forces conducted offensive operations near Petropavlivka, Sinkivka and Kyslivka (20 km southeast of Kupyansk).
The Russian Defense Ministry says that Ukrainian forces conducted unsuccessful attacks near Pershotravneve (21 km east of Kupyansk) and Mankivka (about 15 km east of Kupyansk). Russian troops are amassing reinforcements and deploying new units in the Kupyansk sector.
Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar reports that Russian troops are increasing the density of minefields along the international border between Kharkiv and Belgorod regions, possibly to disrupt further pro-Ukrainian border raids.
