Intense fighting is taking place, with some positions changing hands several times.

Russian troops have chosen the Kupyansk direction as the main focus of their offensive and have created a striking fist of eight Storm-Z assault units there. Heavy fighting is underway, but Ukrainian troops are repelling all enemy attempts to advance deeper into the defense. Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrsky, Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this in a comment to Ukrayinska Pravda.

“The adversary’s goal is to break through the defense of our troops and go directly to Kupyansk. The fighting is extremely intense. Some positions have changed hands several times these days,” the statement reads.

In addition, the enemy is trying to cut the group of Ukrainian defenders with an offensive from the area of Novoselivske, which is located on the border of Luhansk and Kharkiv regions. The Russian army planned to encircle some of the brigade’s units that are holding the line there, but was unsuccessful.

“Our soldiers are bravely holding the line, repelling all enemy attempts to advance,” the commander emphasized.

The Armed Forces Commander of Ukraine visited the Kupyansk sector and discussed further plans to defend these territories with the commanders.
