UKRAINE, KHARKIV, May 28 — On May 27, at about 4:16 p.m., the Russian military dropped three modified gliding bombs (UMPB D-30) on the Shevchenkivskyi and Kholodnohirskyi districts of Kharkiv, said Oleksandr Filchakov, the head of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office, to Gwara Media at one of the impact sites.
Russia attacks Kharkiv and the Kharkiv Oblast a lot because of its proximity to the border. The strikes have intensified since May 10, after Russia started its new offensive north and northeast of the region. They kill and injure civilians, and destroy buildings in residential neighborhoods and critical infrastructure.
Filchakov said that one of the bombs had exploded near a green area in the Shevchenkivskyi district without injuring anyone. The second hit 20 meters from the entrance to a food enterprise in the Kholodnohirskyi district, and the third bomb hit the production building of a plant that manufactures agricultural equipment.
Serhii Bolvinov, the head of the Investigation Department of the National Police of Kharkiv Region, said there were no military personnel or equipment at the civilian facilities.
However, one of the shells hit the production facility of an agricultural machinery plant where an employee, Natalia, was working. The woman died at the impact site from a shrapnel wound.
As of 7:35 a.m. today, the Rusian bomb attack injured 13 people. They sustained light or moderate injuries, and are currently hospitalized.
Oleksandr Filchakov added that since March 2024, the Russian army has been using this UMPB D-30 type of bomb only to strike Kharkiv.
On the afternoon of May 25, Russian forces dropped two guided bombs [KABs] on a construction hypermarket in Kharkiv. Currently, there is information about 18 civilians killed, 48 injured, and 16 missing in this attack. A 12-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy are among the killed.
During the same day, Russian troops attacked the Shevchenkivskyi district of the city with S-300 missiles, injuring 25 people. The missile attack damaged 12 buildings, including seven multi-story buildings, a medical facility, a shop, six vehicles, non-residential buildings, and a research institute building.
