Russia has lost 364,730 troops in Ukraine since the beginning of its full-scale invasion on Feb. 24, 2022, the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces reported on Jan. 7.

This number includes 860 casualties Russian forces suffered just over yesterday.

The report says Russia has also lost:

  • 6,022 tanks,
  • 11,180 armored personnel vehicles,
  • 11,523 vehicles and fuel tanks,
  • 8,653 artillery systems,
  • 951 multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS),
  • 637 air defense systems,
  • 329 airplanes,
  • 324 helicopters,
  • 6,811 drones,
  • 23 ships and boats, and one submarine.

Kharkiv Oblast builds fortifications around the clock. The region works on the issue 24 hours a day and 12 months a year, despite the challenging weather conditions.

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian forces may intensify their efforts to capture Kupiansk in Kharkiv region in the coming weeks and have a grouping of forces in the area that appears less degraded than the units responsible for offensives elsewhere in eastern Ukraine

Russia could deploy new forces to the Kupiansk area at a rate roughly equal to Russian losses. However, these elements will likely be poorly trained Storm-Z and Storm-V assault units.

However, the intensity of Russian assaults on the Kupiansk axis has dropped, reports the head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleh Syniehubov, during his briefing.

According to him, they have been slowing for the last three days, which can be connected to the weather conditions. Russian soldiers will use [the drop in intensity — ed.] to add new people to regroup and train.
