Russian forces reportedly intensified offensive operations along the Kupyansk-Svatove-Kreminna line on October 5. However, it did not make confirmed territorial gains.

Russia’s primary efforts are still aimed at capturing the rest of Luhansk region and advancing to the eastern part of Kharkiv and northern part of Donetsk regions.

According to Ukrainian Eastern Group of Forces Spokesperson Captain Ilya Yevlash, Russian forces intensified combat operations in the Kupyansk-Lyman direction and are focusing on offensive operations Makiivka, Luhansk Oblast (22km northwest of Kreminna), where eight combat engagements occurred yesterday.

A Russian military blogger asserted that Russian forces have taken control of new positions near Makiivka. However, the Institute for the Study of War has not detected any substantiating evidence.

The Ukrainian General Staff reported that the Ukrainian troops repelled Russian attacks east of Makiivka and northwest of Dibrova, Luhansk Oblast (7km southwest of Kreminna).

According to reports, Ukrainian forces maintained limited offensive actions near Kreminna in Luhansk region on October 5 but did not make any further advances. The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) stated that Russian forces successfully thwarted two Ukrainian attacks in the vicinity of Dibrova.
