UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep. 1 — Over the past day, Russia launched airstrikes at Kharkiv and 15 settlements of the Kharkiv region, which resulted in damage to civilian infrastructure and residential houses. Three people, including two children, getting an acute stress reaction, reported Kharkiv region governor Oleh Syniehubov. 

A 30-year-old woman, a 7-year-old girl, and a 3-year-old boy got diagnosed with acute stress reaction after the Russian attack on Zolochiv, a settlement in the Bohodukhiv district of the region, located northwest of Kharkiv and about 12 miles from the state border. 

Overall, Russian attacks on Ukraine killed at least 12 people over the past day, injuring dozens more, according to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. 

From Aug. 31 to Sep. 1, Russian airstrikes on the Kharkiv region damaged six houses, two cars, a microbus, a garage, a shop, and a scooter in Zolochiv.  

Drone attack on Kharkiv, according to Syniehubov, hit the Shevchenkivskyi district of the city. 

Russian troops, the governor reports, used two missiles, one glide bomb, six Molniya-type drones, eight first-person view (FPV) drones, and 85 drones of unidentified type to attack the Kharkiv region.  

In the Bohodukhiv district, Russian shelling also damaged a house and outbuildings in the Kovali village. In the Kupiansk district, the airstrikes damaged a house in Nova Oleksandrivka and power networks in Hnylytsia. Russia hit five houses in Komarivka and power networks in Yazykove in the Izium district. A house was also damaged by the shelling of Slatyne; power networks, in Derhachi of Kharkiv district. Russian attacks on Lozova damaged a civilian business. A warehouse was hit in the Vesele village. Power networks in the village of Novovolodymyrske in the Lozova district were damaged. 

The edges of the Kharkiv region, located in the northeast of Ukraine, have been encroached upon by Russian troops in the north, northeast, east, and southeast for the fifth year. 

In the north, Moscow tries to increase the buffer zone between Russia and Ukraine. In the east and southeast of Kharkiv oblast, Russia’s goal is to seize major logistical hubs and disrupt Kyiv’s logistics further into the Donetsk region.
