“Relentless Courage: Ukraine and the World at War” will be released on Oct. 14, and now the book is available for preorder.
The editor of the photo book, Michael Edrington, is a photojournalist with 31 years in the Army. “Relentless Courage: Ukraine and the World at War” includes images and essays from Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalists on the front lines of the war in Ukraine. The book is written in English and Ukrainian.
“This book speaks to our shared humanity — and what’s at stake when free people come under attack,” said Kent Kobersteen, Former Director of Photography, National Geographic Magazine.
Lynsey Addario, Paula Bronstein, Carol Guzy, Svet Jacqueline, and Justyna Mielnikiewicz are among the photojournalists who contributed to the book. The essays were written by the Ukrainian ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova, the famous Ukrainian author Andrey Kurkov, and the Pulitzer Prize winner and personal photographer to President Gerald Ford David Hume Kennerly. The photo taken at Azovstal by the head of the Press Office of the Azov Regiment Dmytro Kozatskyi was chosen for the cover.
“The idea of the book came to us during the discussion with Carol Guzy who has been a dear friend of mine for many years. She was there covering the war and felt that if we wanted to write a book, there were a lot of really great photojournalists who could contribute. We wanted to do something to show the truth, and we’re doing it through photographs,” said Edrington.
The book`s release is scheduled on Oct.14 at Ukraine House in Washington, D.C., hosted by Ukrainian Ambassador Oksana Markarova.
Earlier it was announced that the book “You Don’t Know What War Is: The Diary of a Young Girl From Ukraine” by Yeva Skalietska would be released on Oct. 25 in the UK and the USA.
