UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Apr 24 — On the night of April 24, Russian forces launched 10 missiles and 14 attack drones on Kharkiv, injuring six civilians, said the local Prosecutor’s Office.
“Forty-four days have passed since Ukraine agreed to a full ceasefire. Forty-four days since Russia continues to kill people and escape pressure and responsibility for this” said Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, commenting on the Russian nighttime attacks.
On April 24, Russia conducted a massive combined attack on many cities in Ukraine, killing nine people in Kyiv and injuring at least 97 throughout Ukraine.
In Kharkiv, Russia attacked the Osnovianskyi, Nemyshlianskyi, Novobavarskyi, Kyivskyi, and Slobidskyi districts in three attack waves with 10 “Kh”-type missiles and 14 “Geran-2” drones. The Russian attacks damaged residential buildings, a school, a clinic, businesses, and a hotel complex, said prosecutor Mykhailo Martysh.
In Nemyshlianskyi district, a man and woman got hit by blown-out glass; the other three people suffered an intense stress reaction.
“I was sleeping at home, with my child, mother, and her friend at home during the attack. We are from Izium. My mom’s friend has cancer, so she came to Kharkiv to get treatment. The explosion smashed the windows and doors in our apartment. I covered my child with my body so the glass shards wouldn’t cut her. She was really scared. She has already survived through the (Russian — ed.) occupation of Izium; she is seven years old,” said Hanna, one of the residents of a damaged apartment building.
From 1 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., during the first wave of Russian attacks, three “Iskanders” hit the business building.
From 3 a.m. to 3:30 a.m., during the second wave, 14 drones attacked Osnovianskyi district.
The third wave started around 5 a.m., when Russians launched Kh-59 and Kh-35 missiles in Osnovianskyi, Nemyshlianskyi, Novobavarskyi, Kyivskyi, and Slobidskyi districts.
“In Slobidskyi district, we recorded the damage of a two-story non-residential business building. In Nemyshlianskyi district, a Russian missile hit the stadium near the school, damaging the building and nearest houses,” said the Prosecutor’s Office.
Another missile damaged the hotel and restaurant complex in Kyivskyi district. In Bezliudivka, a settlement near Kharkiv, Russians damaged more than 10 houses, injuring a 14-year-old girl.
During the day of April 22, Russia launched 14 attack drones on Kharkiv, killing one and injuring nine civilians.
