UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Sep. 28 — In the morning, Russian forces attacked the Kyivskyi and Saltivskyi districts of Kharkiv with two glide bombs. One of them hit an apartment building in the Saltivskyi district, injuring at least 38 people, including 10 children, Oleh Syniehubov, governor, reported.
Gwara Media journalists visited the impact site to document the consequences of the attack.
The glide bomb hit a nine-story apartment building between the third and four floors, partially destroying the lower floors.
Roman lives on the first floor. At the time of the attack, he was home with his wife.
“There was debris and broken glass everywhere. Something was falling and crashing. But we managed to get out. The doors to the apartment had been broken down,” Roman said.
According to Oleh Syniehubov, medics hospitalized a 43-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl with blast injuries. The other people sustained moderate and minor injuries.
A family with three children was living in the apartment that was directly hit by a bomb. The father carried them out of the apartment on his own. The children did not suffer serious injuries.
According to the Kharkiv regional Prosecutor’s Office, the Russians used UMPB-5, a modified glide bomb with a range of up to 100 kilometers (62 miles).
As of 10:00 a.m., rescuers had finished clearing the rubble and found no survivors. Municipal services are continuing to clean up the damage.
