The aid is part of a project implemented by the UN Office and funded by the Government of Japan.

According to Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, 17 high-power diesel generators ranging from 168 kW to 440 kW will be handed over to 10 critical infrastructure enterprises in Kharkiv and the region to provide housing services.

“Turkey helped deliver these generators to our region, but the purchase was made possible thanks to the Government of Japan. We will send the generators to sewage treatment plants and water utilities to prevent a catastrophe due to the lack of electricity caused by Russian shelling,” the Head of RMA said.

The equipment will be delivered to enterprises in Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, Lozova, Bohodukhiv, Krasnohrad, Slobozhanske, Pivdenne, Pyatyhirske, Novopokrovka and Velykyi Burluk.

“We are constantly working to ensure that the region receives generators. We have already received 10 generators under the same program. We expect new batches soon,” said Oleg Sinegubov.

He added that the generators will help provide uninterrupted utility services to almost 217,000 residents.
