UKRAINE, KHARKIV, May 31 — On May 30, at 11:50 p.m., the Russian army attacked the Novobavarskyi district of the city with S-300 missiles, reported the Kharkiv Oblast Governor Oleh Syniehubov.
Citizens heard at least five explosions. One of the Russian missiles hit a residential area, killing five people and injuring 26. The Russians also damaged more than 20 buildings.
The second missile hit a sewing workshop, killing a security guard. The third hit a shop in a three-story building.
Russia attacks Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city 19 miles from the state border, and its suburbs frequently — even more so since the beginning of their new ground offensive from north and northeast of the Kharkiv region on May 10.
Currently, eight people are in the hospital, and two of them have severe injuries. The missile attack injured a 12-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy. They were hospitalized with minor injuries.
After the double-tap missile attack at 00:15 a.m., the Russians damaged a fire truck and an ambulance. According to the mayor of the town, Ihor Terekhov, the attack injured a medical worker and a policewoman.
The Governor said that there is no military infrastructure near the hit sites.
In total, Russia has attacked Kharkiv with missiles, glider bombs, or drone strikes 1,700 times since January 2024, Oleh Syniehubov told Ukrainska Pravda, in an interview published on May 25. More than 230 of them were missile attacks.
