UKRAINE, KHARKIV, May 21 — At night after 2:09 a.m., Kharkiv residents heard a series of explosions. The debris of the Russian Shahed kamikaze drones hit four locations. One of the drone debris hit the sidewalk in the Sarzhin Yar, a Gwara Media correspondent reports from the site.

Olena Shapoval, a spokesperson of the Kharkiv Oblast Military Administration, told Gwara Media that a Russian drone attack on Kharkiv injured five people.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov wrote that Russia hit “one of Kharkiv residents’ favorite spots for leisure” with Iranian-made “Shaheds.” People injured in the drone strikes received medical aid on-site. Three of them had acute stress responses.

Sarzhyn Yar is a 12-kilometer-long ravine that is a source of natural mineral water in the center of Kharkiv. This is a recreation spot with a workout area and a children’s playground.

Syniehubov said private houses caught fire in the aftermath of the Russian attack.

Other strikes hit the road and sidewalk of the private sector, but there were no casualties, the official added.
