The program of assistance to Ukrainian refugees in Georgia prolonged for six months, said the Minister of Health Zurab Azarashvili at a briefing after the government meeting.

“The state has been actively supporting Ukrainian refugees since February. Initially, they were taken care of by the City Hall and the Department of Tourism, and since July 15 – by the Agency for IDPs.

We have special points on the borders where you can ask for help. We help families with monthly rent, as well as provide social assistance. They receive the same assistance as Georgian refugees from Abkhazia and Tskhinvali. We have extended this program for six months,” Azarashvili said.

The minister also cited statistics, according to which since July the Georgian government has financed social assistance to refugees from Ukraine and rent of apartments for about 1,800,000 GEL ($655,000).
