The difference between the number of Ukrainians who left and returned from abroad in 8 months is 2,179,821 people.

This was reported by Opendatabot, a platform for working with open data, referring to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

During the summer, the number of returning citizens exceeded the number of those leaving. In general, from February to August, 9,3 million people left, and 7,4 million Ukrainians returned to the country.

The first surge in returns occurred in May — then the number of citizens entering the country exceeded the number of those leaving for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Since then, this indicator has remained constant during the summer: more Ukrainians returned than left the country.

When calculating the budget for 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers focuses on 34,5 million Ukrainians. In the 2022 budget, the calculation was based on 34,9 million citizens.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna, about 1,5 million citizens, most of whom are women and children, currently remain on the territory of Russia without stable connection and the opportunity to return home.

According to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), currently, 7,6 million Ukrainian refugees stay in Europe, and 4,2 million have registered and asked for shelter and assistance.

Meanwhile, the “Klych” project to help organize events supporting Ukraine abroad was created.
