UKRAINE, Jun. 3 — The Ministry of Defense, through the Defense Procurement Agency, has procured 1,500 motorcycles for the Ukrainian army, reported Mykhailo Fedorov, the Minister of Defense.
Fedorov said that this is three times more than was procured during the entire 2025 year. The full batch of vehicles is expected to be delivered to the military later this year, he added.
Fedorov said motorcycles remain one of the most in-demand types of transport on the frontline, alongside pickup trucks. Motorcycles make Ukrainian troops more mobile and help them carry out tasks in difficult terrain and logistical conditions.
Six companies took part in the procurement process. Fedorov said that the ministry saved nearly ₴12 million (about $300,000) because of competitive bidding. According to the Defense Minister, saved money will be redirected to additional military needs, including for buying other types of military transport.
Fedorov also said that the Defense Ministry used a similar approach during the largest procurement of 155 mm artillery shells. He said that competition between companies that supply military stuff helps secure better terms for the state and further strengthen the military’s supply of ammunition.
