RUSSIA, Oct. 23 — Tonight, Ukrainian drones reportedly attacked a data center of Russia’s Federal Taxation Service in the city of Gorodets in the Nizhny Novgorod region, according to footage published by the Exilnova+ and Supernova+, pro-Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channels.
Gleb Nikitin, governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, also partially corroborates this information, saying that Russian air defense forces downed 19 Ukrainian drones. He didn’t provide details on the specific targets of the Ukrainian drone attack. Nikitin also added that the drone debris injured three people. All of them were hospitalized, and debris also damaged a school and infrastructure.
Militarnyi, a Ukrainian defense media outlet, reported that the Goredets data center is one of two key data centers operated by Russia’s Federal Taxation Service, which function in a geographically distributed mode.
Gwara Media couldn’t independently verify the targets and consequences of the attack.
Since September, Russia and Ukraine have launched military campaigns of mutual attacks against each other’s data centers.
On Oct. 19, Russia attacked the data center of Datagroup, a Ukrainian communication operator, destroying it.
