UKRAINE, Apr. 16 — Ukrainian forces will use drone assault units that will combine aerial and ground drones with infantry in a single system as a new model of warfare, said the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
The ministry said this approach had already shown results in the southern part of the frontline, where a large area of territory has been liberated since February because of the deployment of new units.
At the beginning of March, Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief, said that, for the first time since 2024, Ukraine had regained more territory than Russia had captured.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also reported that Ukrainian forces have regained control of 400-435 square kilometers (154-168 square miles) of territory in the southern part of the country.
