UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Oct. 8 — Russian forces conducted an infiltration mission east of Vovchansk as Russian milbloggers continue to exaggerate their advances near the seam between the Vovchansk and Velykyi Bulruk directions, The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said in its assessment.
Vovchansk and Velykyi Bulruk are settlements in the northern and northeastern parts of the Kharkiv region. Active combat operations and the redeployment of Russian troops are ongoing in these areas.
According to ISW’s geolocated footage, Ukrainian forces struck a Russian servicemember southeast of Khrypuny, a village east of Vovchansk, after a likely Russian infiltration mission.
The ISW also said that Russians reported advances near Loshakove, a village east of Vovchansk, and Vilkhuvatka, a village southeast of Vovchansk and northeast of Velykyi Burluk. They attempt to reinforce the Russian Ministry of Defense’s claim that Russian troops have encircled Ukrainian forces in this area.
At the same time, Viktor Trehubov, the press officer of the military group responsible for the Kharkiv oblast, told Ukrainian media Suspilne that Ukrainian forces report an increase in Russian troop presence near Velykyi Bulruk.
According to him, this sector of the frontline is currently the least active. “Some activity may be expected there, but it will literally be starting from scratch or from a small number of troops,” he said.
