UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Jul. 2 — Since the beginning of this year, 34 Russian first person view (FPV) drones have reached Kharkiv, 29 of them since May, said Petro Tokar, the head of Kharkiv regional police, to Ukrainian media Suspilne.

Overall, Russians launched 735 FPV at the Kharkiv oblast since the beginning of 2026, said Tokar.

In Kharkiv, police recorded Russian FPV drones mostly in the Northern Saltivka, which is the northeastern part of the city that, before the full-scale invasion, was one of the most heavily populated parts of the city.

Tokar also said that FPV drones had reached the Shevchenkivskyi district, which stretches from the north of Kharkiv to its center, and the northern parts of the Kharkiv district, outside the city limits.

On Jun. 29, Kharkiv regional police recorded five cases of Russian FPV hitting civilian cars in the region, added Tokar.

Ihor Terekhov, Kharkiv’s mayor, also reported a change in the tactics of Russian attacks on the city. He noted that, in June, Russians renewed glide bomb attacks on the city and increased the use of FPV drones.

In total, over June, Russians attacked Kharkiv 142 times, killing 12 and injuring 122 people, including 12 children, said Terekhov.
