UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Jul. 1 — In June, over 1,300 internally displaced people moved to Kharkiv. Overall, local officials recorded almost 217,500 internally displaced people in Kharkiv, reported the Kharkiv City Council.

In February, the Ministry of Social Policy recorded 4,6 millions internally displaced people in Ukraine. 508,100 of them are registered in the Kharkiv region, making it the leader among other regions, reported Ukrainian analytical portal Slovo i Dilo.

As of Jul. 1, nearly 14,000 people with disabilities, 28,000 children, and 60,600 elderly people are living in Kharkiv after being internally displaced because of Russia’s war.

The City Council said that 57 dormitories where over 7,300 people live are open in Kharkiv, and humanitarian hubs that provide humanitarian, legal, and psychological assistance and distribute hot meals. 

On Jun. 30, Dmytro Lubinets, Ukraine’s ombudsman, said that the official number of internally displaced people in Ukraine has remained at 4.6 million for nearly two years now, despite the ongoing war, evacuations, and the displacement of people from frontline areas.
