UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 21 — The Russian army tried to attack Ukrainian positions 26 times over the past day. There were 11 attacks in the Kharkiv direction and 15 in the Kupiansk direction, reported the General Staff.

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian military conducted offensive and assault operations near Lyptsi and Vovchansk.

In the Kupiansk direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled Russian attacks near Petropavlivka, Berestove, Stelmakhivka, Synkivka, and Stepova Novoselivka.

The Russian army also hit Kozacha Lopan, Ridkodub, Nove, Serebrianka, Verkhnokamianske, Hryhorivka, Chasiv Yar, Druzhba, Toretsk, Nelipivka, Hrodivka, Oleksandropil, Myrnohrad, Mykhailivka, Vuhledar, Vodiane, Novodarivka Novoandriivka, Lobkove, Novoiakovlivka, Novopavlivka, Mykolaivka in the Kharkiv and Donetsk region with airstrikes.

Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said at the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities that in the Donetsk and northern Kharkiv regions, the Russians are using their superiority in missiles and artillery ammunition to achieve their goals at the frontline.
