UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Oct 2 — There were 25 combat clashes in the Kupiansk direction over the day. Defense forces repelled Russian army assaults near Synkivka, Novoosynove, Kurelivka, Novoselivka, Vyshneve, Kolisnykivka, Hlushkivka, and Kruhliakivka, reported the General Staff.

One of the main goals of the Russian full-scale war is to capture the remainder of occupied Luhansk and Donetsk Oblast; their operations on Kupiansk-Svatove-Kreminna line are dedicated to that. From this section of the frontline, they also aim to push into Kharkiv Oblast and re-occupy Kupiansk and Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, important logistics hubs for the region.

On September 23, the UK’s Ministry of Defence released a report saying that, in Kupiansk direction, Russians “advanced westwards from [previously occupied — ed.] Pishchane village. Russian forces are now positioned 3.5 km from the Oskil River, likely aiming to reach its eastern bank to establish a natural defensive barrier for future operations.

On September 30, DeepStateMap, an interactive online map of the hostilities in Ukraine, reported that the Russians occupied Kruhliakivka in the Kupiansk district.

In the Kharkiv direction, there were six combat clashes. The Russians attacked near Starytsia and Vovchansk.
