A retired lieutenant general in the United States Army Joseph Keith Kellogg and a delegation of American military servicemen and experts visited liberated Izium in Kharkiv Oblast.

This was reported by Kharkiv Governor Oleh Syniehubov.

“American partners saw with their own eyes the scale of destruction caused by Russian shelling and occupation and got acquainted with the evidence of Russian war crimes in Kharkiv Oblast,” wrote Syniehubov.

He added that they discussed the further reconstruction of Izium, and the security and humanitarian situation in Kharkiv Oblast. Moreover, the urgent military needs of the region were considered.

“I thank the American partners for all the help and support Kharkiv Oblast receives. I am sure that thanks to the military assistance of our allies, the aggressor will be punished, and all of Ukraine will be freed,” noted Syniehubov.

Moreover, Kharkiv authorities discussed the security situation in Kharkiv Oblast at a meeting with Kellogg, US national security and intelligence expert Robert McCreary, and other US military servicemen and experts.

“I have told the American partners about the situation in the liberated territories of the region, about the terror of the civilian population and other crimes committed by the Russian occupiers. We have also discussed the humanitarian situation and the help that the local civilians need.

We have a common belief that the only thing that can stop Russia’s terrorist actions and ensure permanent peace in Kharkiv Oblast is the victory of Ukraine and the liberation of all territories occupied by the Russians. But this can only be achieved if the Armed Forces have enough modern heavy weapons,” wrote Syniehubov.

The American delegation headed by US Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg arrived in Kharkiv on Jan. 21. The Americans met Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and Kharkiv Governor Oleh Syniehubov. Following his visit to Ukraine, Kellogg will prepare a report for the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations on Ukraine`s urgent needs.

Earlier, Annalena Baerbock, German Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, became one the first high-ranking western politicians to visit Kharkiv.
