UKRAINE, Oct. 20 — Vietnam will supply Ukraine with $500,000 in humanitarian aid, said Andrii Sybiha, Ukraine’s minister of foreign affairs.

According to Interfax, a Ukrainian news agency, this is the second time Vietnam has provided aid to Ukraine. In 2022, the Vietnamese government announced a $500,000 humanitarian package for Ukraine, allocating $100,000 each to the UN Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and $200,000 to the Vietnam Red Cross Society.

Sybiha said that the new aid package shows long-standing friendship, respect, and mutual understanding between the people of Ukraine and Vietnam. He also added that this aid helps to strengthen Ukraine-Vietnam relations and to deepen bilateral cooperation for the benefit of both countries.

At the same time, Vietnam is one of the countries that helps Russia to avoid sanctions. In 2025, the Associated Press reported that Vietnam created a backdoor method of purchasing military equipment from Russia, using profits from oil and gas ventures, without any open transfers or cash through the global banking system to avoid Western sanctions.
