UKRAINE, Oct 16 — During the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, there have been 322 cases of war-related sexual violence, reported Ukrinform, citing the Office of the Prosecutor General.

So far, 322 victims of sexual violence by Russians have agreed to participate in criminal proceedings. Of these, 207 are women and 115 are men.

“We now have 55 notices of suspicion against Russian military personnel who committed such acts of sexual violence. Cases against 34 Russian servicemen have been sent to court, and five have been convicted,” said Veronika Plotnikova, head of the Coordination Center for Victims and Witnesses of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

On June 19, Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets announced that the Global Survivors Fund will pay €3,000 in interim compensation to 500 survivors of conflict-related sexual violence as part of a pilot project.

On April 23, Ukraine’s representative to the UN, Serhii Kyslytsia, said that the Russian military uses sexual violence as a weapon against civilians and prisoners of war in Ukraine.

According to him, testimonies from people released from Russian Federation captivity reveal that over 50% of detainees endured torture, rape, or other forms of sexual violence.
