KHARKIV OBLAST, Feb 28 — This afternoon, on February 28, the Russian forces hit Kupiansk in the Kharkiv Oblast with airstrikes. They shelled the center of the city. The Russian military killed a 59-year-old and a 39-year-old man, reported the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov.
Search operations are ongoing at the hit site. There is information about five injured and people who may still be under the rubble.
According to law enforcement, the Russians hit a cafe and the Church of Jesus Christ. A pastor was trapped under the rubble. He sustained injuries incompatible with life. Another deceased, a 39-year-old man, was near the cafe at the time of the strike. His 31-year-old sister was wounded.
The Russians also shelled the village of Ploske in the Velykyi Burluk community. Law enforcement is clarifying information about the destruction and casualties. Special services are working at the hit site.
As reported, 3,500 people still live in Kupiansk, including 222 children, said the head of the Kupiansk City Military Administration, Andrii Besedin.
