UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Oct. 21 — In 2026, the Kharkiv regional police recorded 1,491 Russian attacks on the Zolochiv community in the Kharkiv oblast, the highest number of attacks on the region this year, Petro Tokar, head of the Kharkiv regional police, told Suspilne, a Ukrainian media outlet.
The Zolochiv community is located in northern Kharkiv oblast, with settlements very close to the Russia-Ukraine border. Zolochiv itself is located about 10 miles (~17,5 km) from the zero line. According to local officials, Russian forces launch airstrikes at the community every day.
Also, the Bohodukhiv, Velykyi Burluk, Shevchenkove, and Lozova communities suffered from a large number of Russian attacks, Tokar added.
The head of the police said that as of Oct. 21, they recorded 892 Russian attacks on Kharkiv in 2026.
Since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion in Ukraine, 52,6% settlements in the Kharkiv oblast have suffered because of Russian attacks. “In other words, every second settlement has felt the effects of the war,” Tokar said.
