UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Oct 3 — On the evening of October 2, Russian troops dropped glide bombs (KABs) on Kharkiv, injuring 12 people, including a child, reported Oleh Syniehubov, governor of Kharkiv Oblast.
Russian army attacks Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city, often because it’s close to the border and the frontline. Their attacks intensified significantly since Moscow launched a new ground offensive north of the Kharkiv region in May.
One of the bombs hit a residential high-rise building in the Saltivskyi district of the city between the third and fourth floors. The building caught fire.
Five people were hospitalized with light and moderate injuries after the attack. A three-year-old girl who had a blast injury and concussion was also taken to the hospital.
The bomb attack caused an apartment building and cars parked near the building to catch fire. Firefighters put out the fire quickly. The Russians damaged nearby houses, a polyclinic, and at least 14 cars.
The UN reported that between June 1 and August 31, the Russian aggression against Ukraine killed 589 civilians and injured 2,685 others. This is 45% more casualties than in the spring.
