More than UAH1 million (~$27000) was allocated from the city budget for the reburial of those who died during the Russian occupation of Izium in Kharkiv Oblast.

This was reported by Suspilne referring to the Deputy Head of Izium Volodymyr Matsokin.

According to him, one burial requires around UAH4000 (~$100).

“This money was allocated according to the program, not actually. We don’t know how many reburials are waiting for us, we don’t know how long this process will last. We have a city program, now it includes these burials as well,” said Matsokin.

Since the beginning of February, 10 bodies have been buried. Another 12 are planned to be buried this week. The deceased Izium residents are buried in city cemeteries.

Earlier, it was reported that over 100 bodies in one of the largest graves in a single liberated town remained unidentified. A total of 447 bodies have been removed from the graves. Among them were 215 women, 194 men, five children, and 22 soldiers. Moreover, the remains of 11 people whose gender cannot be determined were found.
