UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Apr 03 — A court found guilty and sentenced a 40-year-old deputy commander of a tank battalion of the 6th Separate Tank Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces to 15 years in prison for the murder of a resident of Izium in the Kharkiv Oblast, reported the press service of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

According to prosecutors, on June 2, 2022, in occupied Izium, a 35-year-old woman approached the headquarters of the Russian military, where she was connecting to Wi-Fi and calling her brother from the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.

“A 40-year-old Russian soldier came out of the headquarters and heard a woman speaking Ukrainian, which outraged and enraged him. He went to her with a gun and shot her in the chest. The victim died on the site,” the statement said.

The Prosecutor’s Office noted that the panel of the Dzerzhynskyi District Court of Kharkiv passed the sentence. The appeal period is currently underway. The Russian military officer is currently on the wanted list, and his sentence will begin to be served from the moment of his actual detention.
