UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Apr. 10 — From Feb. 24, 2022, to April 2026, Russian aggression has damaged or destroyed 349 cultural heritage sites, reported Ukraine’s Ministry of Culture. That’s the most destruction Russia’s war caused across Ukrainian regions.
Overall, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has damaged or destroyed 1,723 cultural heritage sites and 2,524 objects of cultural infrastructure across Ukraine.
“Among the damaged objects, 159 objects have national significance, 1,403 have local significance, and 161 have just been found to be damaged or destroyed,” the Ministry said.
With the most damage documented in Kharkiv oblast, Russia’s war destroyed or damaged 302 objects in Kherson oblast, 200 in Odesa oblast, 193 in Donetsk, 173 in Kyiv oblast and Kyiv.
At the same time, Russian shelling and combat damaged 2,524 objects of infrastructure, 518 of which are completelydestroyed.
On Apr. 7, a Russian attack damaged a 19th-century building in Velykyi Burluk of Kharkiv oblast.
