UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Aug 12 —  The Dzerzhinsky District Court of Kharkiv convicted a Russian citizen of disseminating information about the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to court’s verdict. .

Since the start of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, more than 1,000 people in the Kharkiv Oblast have received a notice of suspicion in proceedings over treason, collaboration, and dissemination of information about the movement of the Armed Forces.

On May 9, 2024, the Russians offered the man to provide information about the location of the Ukrainian military in Kharkiv through Telegram. He agreed and shared the data on May 15. 

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine confirmed the presence of personnel and military equipment at the address provided by the man.

The man received the notice of suspicion on June 27. He then pleaded guilty with the prosecutor and agreed to a 5-year prison sentence. According to the law, he faced a term of 5 to 8 years.

The man was born in the Kaluga region of the Russian Federation. He is a Russian citizen with a residence permit in Ukraine who has been living in Kharkiv. He is married and retired.
