UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Oct 4 — On October 2, a 50-year-old employee of Kharkivoblenergo electricity company came across an unknown explosive device in a field between the villages of Dovhenke and Yaremivka in the Oskil community, reported the Kharkiv Regional State Emergency Service (SES).
Kharkiv Oblast is one of the most heavily mined regions. More than 570,000 hectares of land in the Kharkiv region need to be inspected for mines and explosive devices after the Russian occupation.
The man sustained a mine-blast wound as a result of the explosion and was hospitalized.
On October 2, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that the Demining Capabilities Coalition member countries have agreed to purchase pickup trucks worth €22 million to support the needs of the State Special Transport Service and the Support Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Lithuania is allocating €15 million, and Sweden is committing €7 million to purchase demining equipment for Ukraine.
