UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 7 — In the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops are suffering losses but are preparing for new assaults, building up their surveillance system, and amassing firepower, reported the “Kharkiv” group of forces in their Telegram channel.

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

“The enemy is attacking the positions of Ukrainian defenders with assault groups of the 4th Volunteer Assault Brigade, regrouping units of the 138th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 6th Army and the Storm unit of the 153rd Tank Regiment of the 47th Tank Division of the 1st Tank Army. To prepare for assault operations, the enemy actively uses the surveillance system and accumulates firepower, such as RPG-18/22 and RPV-A “Shmel,” the military said.

According to the “Kharkiv” group of forces, the Russian troops continue to actively shell the eastern part of Vovchansk using the TOS-1A heavy flamethrower system.

Over the past day, they have carried out 60 kamikaze drone attacks and fired 517 times at the positions of the Defense Forces.

Combat continues near Vovchansk, and over the past day, Russians lost 70 pieces of equipment there, including one tank, three armored combat vehicles, seven artillery systems, 17 vehicles, nine special equipment units, and 30 drones.
