The power supply is being restored in the Izium community in Kharkiv Oblast. Several districts received generators from Germany, and Kharkiv teachers received laptops from UNESCO and Google.
Electricity supply restored in Hlynske and Zabavne
Most of the settlements of the Izium district have been de-energized since last March. According to the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration (RMA), the territory had to be demined to make the restoration works possible.
“Last week, sappers managed to clear the last street in Hlynske. Previously, their work was hindered by weather conditions. As soon as the power engineers received permission for the renovation works, they restored the power supply on this street,” says Mykhailo Kharnam, deputy head of Kharkiv RMA.
Next, the village energy workers plan to resume the electricity supply in Spivakivka, Studenok, and Yaremivka in the Izium district. The settlements have been cut off since the beginning of the full-scale war.
Earlier, energy workers restored the last street that had been de-energized due to Russian shelling in Izium in Kharkiv Oblast.
Germany handed over 9 powerful generators to Kharkiv Oblast
The received equipment was distributed among the Izium, Kharkiv, and Chuhuiv districts and the city of Kharkiv, RMA reports.
According to Ivan Sokol, director of the RMA civil protection department, the generators will be used at critical infrastructure facilities to stabilize the energy system in Kharkiv Oblast.
Earlier, Kharkiv Oblast received generators from France.
Kharkiv teachers received laptops
According to the Kharkiv City Council, teachers of five city schools received 23 laptops. The devices were handed over by Google and UNESCO to help the educators affected by Russian aggression to maintain communication with students and establish distance learning.
Earlier it was reported that educational institutions in Ukraine would get 50,000 laptops.
