UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 30 — In the Kharkiv and Kupiansk directions, there were 33 combat clashes, reports the General Staff.
Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)
According to the military, in the Kharkiv direction, Russia continued to attack near Lyptsi and Vovchansk. In total, there were eight combat clashes here.
In the Kupiansk direction, there were 25 combat clashes over the day. Ukrainian defense forces repelled Russian attacks near Synkivka, Miasozharivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Kolisnykivka, and Lozova
On August 28, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported, citing geolocation footage published on August 28, that Russian troops had advanced northwest of Pishchane (southeast of Kupiansk). Reports of Moscow occupying Pishchane first came in from OSINT researchers on July 24.
