UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep 16 — Over the past day, Russian troops attempted to attack Ukrainian forces 20 times in the Kupyansk sector in the areas of Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Kolisnykivka, Hlushkivka, Kruhliakivka and Lozova in the Kharkiv region, reported the General Staff.

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

In the Kharkiv direction, Russians tried to assault Ukrainian positions once near Vovchansk. 

In total, Russians launched one missile attack on the Ukrainian positions and populated areas over the day. They also conducted 77 airstrikes, dropping 117 glide bombs (KABs). In addition, they fired 3,888 times at Ukrainian positions, 114 of which were from multiple launch rocket systems.
