UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep 30 — In the Kupiansk direction, there were 13 combat clashes. Defense forces repelled Russian assaults near Vyshneve, Kucherivka, Kruhliakivka, Novoosynove, and Lozova, reported the General Staff.
Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)
According to the General Staff, in the Kharkiv direction, there were three combat clashes near Vovchansk.
Over the past day, the Russians launched one missile and 88 airstrikes at the positions of Ukrainian military units and populated areas, using 146 glide bombs (KABs).
On September 23, the UK’s Ministry of Defence released a report saying that, in Kupiansk direction, Russians “advanced westwards from [previously occupied — ed.] Pishchane village. Russian forces are now positioned 3.5 km from the Oskil River, likely aiming to reach its eastern bank to establish a natural defensive barrier for future operations.
