The politician faces up to 15 years in prison.

Based on the evidence collected, the Security Service of Ukraine has served a notice of suspicion to the leader of the banned Nashi party, former MP Yevhen Murayev, who is involved in subversive activities against Ukraine.

The politician is suspected under the following two articles:

  • Part 1 of Article 111 (high treason);
  • part 1 of Article 161 (violation of equality of citizens depending on their race, nationality, region, religious beliefs, disability and other criteria).

“According to the investigation, Murayev used the Nash TV channel he controlled to disseminate Kremlin narratives in the Ukrainian media space. In this way, he purposefully used his own media resource to manipulate the public opinion of Ukrainians in the interests of the Russian Federation,” the statement said.

The former MP’s TV channel provided distorted information about the internal situation in Ukraine and its perception in the international arena. In February 2022, Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council imposed sanctions on Muraiev’s TV channel.

In the fall of 2022, the SSU also searched the politician’s residences and offices.

“During the investigative actions at the addresses of the defendant, cash in Russian rubles, weapons, as well as computer equipment and mobile phones with evidence of illegal actions were found,” the SSU reported.

He is a Russian politician who has been in the shadows since February 25. His TV channel “Nash” was filled with “friendship with Russia and searched for compromises”. On February 25, 2022, he posted about the “surrender of Ukraine.”
