Law enforcement officers exposed a former MP engaged in pro-Russian propaganda in Kharkiv Oblast.

  • The Prosecutor’s Office of Kharkiv region reported and sent the corresponding indictment to the court.

The investigation established that the former MP from the banned Communist Party of Ukraine produced propaganda leaflets in support of the Russian Federation and printed them at home on his printer. He then distributed them among residents of Kharkiv district.

The forensic examination confirmed that the information in the leaflets justifies Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine and impacts readers: it shows positive approval and justification of Russia’s actions.

The MP will be tried in the Kharkiv District Court of Kharkiv Region. He is charged under Part 2 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for a sentence of restriction of liberty for up to five years or imprisonment for the same term, with or without confiscation of property.

Although the investigators did not specify the name of the former MP, Gwara Media journalists identified the man. It is probably Pavlo Tyshchenko.

He was a member of Verkhovna Rada of the 3rd Convocation (No. 53 on the list), head of the pro-Russian organization Trudova Kharkivshchyna. He joined the Communist Party of Ukraine, was a deputy of Kharkiv Regional Council in 2006, and in 2014 was an active participant and speaker at pro-Russian rallies.

During the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the party took a pro-Russian stance. As a result, its ban was upheld, and the state seized its assets in July 2022.
