The ministry is testing special modular body armor for the needs of the Navy and the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s engineering troops. The unique module reacts when the vest gets wet and works as a rescue vest.

“The MoD received a request to develop such a special module for body armor. The main objective is to save the lives of servicemen on the water. We understand how much weight a soldier carries, especially when it comes to Special Forces,” commented Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Vitaliy Polovenko.

The Central Logistics Support Development Department of the Armed Forces is developing such a floating module. Both foreign and domestic developers were involved in its development. It is planned that such modules can be used on all approved body armor models of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Such samples have already been handed over to military units for testing. If this stage is successful, laboratory research will begin.

First women’s bulletproof vest was introduced in Ukraine

In early January 2024, the Defense Ministry approved the second body armor model for female servicewomen. The second sample of body armor for female servicewomen, manufactured by Temp-3000, has been approved. It features damping cushions that will help adjust the vest to the anatomical features of each woman.

Women’s body armor has the same ballistic characteristics as men’s. It was tested for three months in two stages: the first for the comfort of wearing by military personnel, and the second for laboratory tests (ballistic, non-ballistic, materials and accessories).
